October 7, 2019
This week, Ontario is celebrating the 21st Agriculture Week from Oct. 7 to 13, 2019. It's a week to celebrate food and farming across the province.
Those in the ag industry and consumers alike are encouraged to use the hashtags #OntAgWeek and #loveONTfood to post on social media and see how others are celebrating.
Consumers can recognize and support Ontario's farmers by visiting a farmers' market and looking for the local Foodland Ontario logo when buying and eating food.
To support dairy farmers in Ontario and Canada, know how to find out if products are made with Canadian dairy ingredients.
Buying local food supports and shows appreciation for farmers, strengthens communities, supports a sustainable environment, creates jobs and boosts the economy.
Quick facts
- Ontario is home to almost 46,900 farms that grow more than 200 agricultural commodities;
